CUTTING AND DRILLING OF GRIPFAST®

Whilst GRP is considered non-hazardous, the dust created is considered an irritant, therefore the appropriate PPE shall be worn when this work is undertaken.

USE OF POWER TOOLS

All power tools shall have a valid certificate and be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Care shall be taken to avoid any leads from tools becoming a trip risk. All power tools used on site will be 110V or battery operated.

APPLICATION OF GRIPFAST®

Areas to be covered with GRIPFAST® shall have all loose debris removed and the condition of the substrate checked

Once the GRIPFAST® is in place, the appropriate fixing for the substrate shall be driven through the material. These fixings shall be torqued flush with the surface.

When adhesives or Food Grade sealers are to be used, it may be necessary to use a de-greaser to clean the substrate prior to the application of the adhesive. For the application of adhesives, the manufacturers instructions shall be followed. Adhesive to be single part polyurethane combed on.

When the GRIPFAST® has been fitted, the surface will be checked to ensure that it is secure and does not move. Any additional fixings necessary will be fitted.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS

No additional work will be carried out without the permission from an employee of the customer.

All equipment in use will be kept out of the way of pedestrians/users of the GRIPFAST® Installation.

The generator used for charging the power tools, and all 110V equipment will be kept to the side of the stairs/walkways and any cable will be kept to the edge of the stairs/walkways.

If possible, access to the area will be restricted to those employees of Polydeck Ltd and the customer.

All equipment, uninstalled GRIPFAST® and all waste matter will be removed from site at the end of each working period.

In the event of an accident, employees of Polydeck Ltd will liase fully with the Health & Safety Officers of the customer and implement their standard procedures.
